Aims and Objectives
Faith International Mission USA/Sierra Leone is a non-profit organization, registered in the state of Maryland in the USA, which is dedicated to helping the poor of Sierra Leone by: a), promoting their spiritual development in Jesus Christ; and b), helping them to obtain a better physical quality of life. All people are created in the image of God and are loved by Him; therefore our services will be offered to anyone regardless of their race, religion or nationality, on the basis of need. However, our witness to Christ is integrated with our service; we do what we do in the Name of Christ. We are not an instrument of any government’s foreign policy, and we respect local culture and customs inasmuch as this is consistent with our aim to promote spiritual development in Christ. We shall hold ourselves accountable to both those we seek to assist and those from whom we accept resources. We intend to work in cooperation with local government efforts inasmuch as these are consistent with the aims and objectives of our mission.
Principles guiding our work include:
• Teaching and Dissemination of the Word of God
• Compassion for the poor, arising from God’s compassion to us; alleviation of
poverty and suffering, and promotion of health
• Justice for all people (noting that justice is not synonymous with equality of
outcomes)
• Character and Spiritual Development
• Cultural sensitivity
• Cultural transformation, where culture conflicts with Christianity and is
destructive to economic development
• Education and Training, equipping the poor
• Empowering the poor to live full and rich lives for God, rather than maintaining
dependency.
• Accountability
• Leadership
• Participation
• Sustainability
